WISSENSSPEICHER

Doerner Institut

Idea, Concept and
Project Co-ordination

The Doerner Institut, which is part of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen (Bavarian State Painting Collections), is responsible for approximately 35,000 paintings, sculptures, electronic media and installations, which are exhibited in the Munich Pinakotheken, in 12 or so branch galleries and thousands of lending places or safely kept in storage. The profound knowledge of painting techniques acquired by the staff of the Doerner Institut and their competence in conservation and restoration will flow into three WISSENSSPEICHER exhibitions: in the Alte Pinakothek (Leonardo), in the Neue Pinakothek (The Greek Cycle by Rottmann ) and in the Sammlung Moderner Kunst in the Pinakothek der Moderne (>detective_stories<). The Doerner Institut will use the opportunity provided by the Congress The Object in Context: Crossing Conservation Boundaries to interact with an international community of experts and to initiate the project "WISSENSSPEICHER. Conservation, Restoration and Research in Munich".
